Black tea syrup

July 20, 2014

I made black tea syrup today for use in iced tea, milk tea and pancakes. This black tea-flavored syrup can also be used in sparkling water and other cold drinks as a sweetener. All you need is tea, sugar, and water. It is really easy to make at home!

Black tea syrup

25g of black loose leaf tea
300ml of water
100g of brown sugar

I used TWG Black Tea 1837. How fragrant!

Boil water with tea leaves for 5 minutes.

Strain out the tea leaves.

Bring the tea to a boil and add sugar. Simmer the mixture over low heat for 20 minutes. No stir during the whole time!

Turn the gas stove off and put the syrup in a glass container with a tight lid.

Let the syrup cool in the container for a while.

Enjoy the milk tea!

With fresh salad with blueberries, colorful paprika, plum and hard-boiled eggs!
