Coffeest, the roastery cafe in Gwanghwamun

April 30, 2014

This cafe Coffeest(커피스트 in Korean) is one of the best coffee houses in Seoul where an expert roaster roasts, blends and brews coffee beans all by herself. As far as I know, the owner acquired the skill for coffee roasting from Monmouth Coffee in London, U.K. She has been running this cafe for over 10 years.

The cafe serves 10 kinds of single origin coffee including Colombia Supremo and Guatemala SHB, espresso based coffee, and variations like café au lait, cafe royal and Irish coffee. I ordered an iced drip coffee with ham and cheese sandwich for the day. The grilled crispy panini makes the sandwich tastier.

One thing I like about this place is its location. It sits in a back street of the Gwanghwamun area and is surrounded by Gyeonghuigung Palace, Seoul Museum of History and Sungkok Art Museum. It is quite a good place for sitting back and relaxing away from bustling urban settings.

The price of coffee ranges from 4000 won to 6000 won and the sandwich comes at 6500 won. It is also available to have a set of sandwich and house blended coffee at 9000 won.
