Stroll in Seochon village

April 16, 2014

Seochon village in Seoul is an area where the city retains its old look. It is located west of Gyeongbokgung Palace,  hence the name Seochon(In korean, Seo means West and chon means village).

The area is so close to Cheong Wa dae or the Blue House that it is not allowed to build a certain height of tall buildings for security reasons. That is why it remains less developed and less modernized than any other area in the city.

Seochon has recently become a hot spot for art galleries, handicraft shops and cafes. One thing I would like to give it credit is that the street is decorated many kinds of green plants, trees, and flowers. An ivy-covered wall is also one of my favorite urban scenes. Just a short walk in the alleys is good for the refreshment.
